Today we went to Haahvard that's how they say it here in Baahston!!!!Lots of history. School was founded in 1638. I took a picture of the plaque on the statue of John Harvard. (just not as much fun spelling it that way) They say if you rub his foot it will bring you good luck, mmmm I am in Boston and the Yankees are "LOOSING BIG TIME" right now guess the jokes on me!"LOST" oh well still time left... Harvard was great!! Bob was here back in 1991. He actually went to school at Harvard when he was working for the Union in the dead of winter from Jan-March.
The picture of him on the bridge is on the Charles River and his dorm room was right by it...He thought he would never come back and said the weather was alot nicer today. It was a beautiful day! Read the writing bridge crossing for all who cross that are Harvard students, then see the Flag pole pretty cool Widener Library was a huge bulding, we stood on the steps for our picture, and no I didn't set the timer I could just see that was a big NO! We also went to Harvard Square, a really old cemetary from 1635 some of the stones you can't even read they are so worn down, and then we went to Salem, MA which was a bit of a disappointment, there is no witch cemetary, they were considered evil so were not buried, After they were burned, and no location is even known where the area was.... There are some decendants... OK tourists want this stuff so I will find a book... I bought a very cool book today which I am sure will show that of course there were no real witches just there persacutors. The book is entitled "In the Devil's Snare" by Mary Beth Norton, I have only read some parts, and she speaks of how people were living in fear back in 1692 in Massachusetts, due to violent Indian attacks which pretty much emptied the Northern frontier of settlers, and many people fled from the area to communities like Salem. People were traumatized (yeah not a word known then) but colony Leaders, who were defensive about their own failure to protect God's people- then blame it on the devil.... and so on...Makes sense.. sounds like a good book. but Anyway Not much going on in Salem very nice witches from what I saw. So we just checked out the cool buildings and there were alot of them, then head home, and we didn't get lost.... Tomorrow I want to go back to Boston and go on the Freedom Trail. It is a tour but I think there will be some cool stuff to see. Bob went on it and he really enjoyed it and wants to go again so we'll see so goodnight for now
